-----------------
I have in mind a tweedy grey cardigan with copper-color buttons, and I just happened to have the yarn on hand -- Peace Fleece left over from the sweater I made for David last year, and I've ordered some buttons from an Etsy shop (don't know if you can see that link or not). They look like this:
I haven't completely forsaken the G'Day sweater. I finished the first sleeve. But the leftover grey Peace Fleece was calling my name. I couldn't resist it any longer, so I cast on last night.
There is turkey soup stock simmering on the stove, and hopefully I'll see the inside of the gym later.
All in all, a great Black Friday, and no mall or shopping or fighting traffic or crowds in sight. I'll repeat something I saw on Twitter this morning: "The day I stand in line for hours to go shopping at Wal-Mart (I'll substitute 'anyplace'), shoot me."
That "shoot me" business, no kidding, but that's not ever gonna happen.
Your peace fleece has been very patient with you, Go For IT!!! Glad it's in your hands and on your needles. Did you get the rest of it washed and dried?

the Today Show reported a woman in CA pepper-sprayed her fellow line-mates this morning. such Christmas cheer! the only thing i need is more Christmas cards, and that's only because i only brought three boxes with me this weekend. i buy them almost compulsively and i have shelves full of them at home. i can wait until Tuesday to write out more cards. <3

I'm with you - no plans to step inside ANY stores today. It's a quiet work day, sunny outside; I'm looking forward to a lunchtime walk with Bonnie - there's never any lines for that, just the excited dancing of a beagle.

Shoot us both! Although, we do stand in line at Rhinebeck for a thing or two. Or at least I used to.
My soup for the day is a crock-pot Butternut Squash/Sweet Potato. No cream or butter, yet so creamy and yummy and since I actually made it on Wednesday, I only have to cut up a little leftover turkey to put in it if I choose to cheat and eat poultry. That and my gluten-free vegan pumpkin pie (SO YUMMY!) and I'm good.
(Okay, I do see a Pumking Ale in my future, but that might screw up the knitting)

Unless someone is selling mortality cures, you will never see me shopping anywhere during this corporate-sponsored Pied Piper season! How do people get so mesmerized by stuff? Glad I have escaped that. I am walking the dogs, going to the gym, and enjoying a beautiful day with leftovers. Great buttons!

I worked in the yard (still cleaning up from the Halloween snow disaster) and went to the market. It's a problem running out of dish liquid on Thanksgiving.
I've been shocked by the WalMart shopping riots. That's no way to run a holiday season and also proves that WM's all about the $$ - the heck with crowd control and safety. You'd think they would have learned since that man was crushed to death in the opening rush a couple of years ago.

I like a story and that is why I like to shop local. On a hot, humid day in summer I will bike up a very big hill to get some Nestrovich peaches. Part of the joy is to get a smile and a little tale out of the Mr's Nestrovich. One legend is that the grandfather stopped in England on his way over from Russia, he was delayed a bit longer than planned because he literally missed the boat. Would he have enjoyed the company of the unsinkable Molly Brown had he managed to get on the Titanic?

The buttons are fantastic! (I just wanted to mention to you that last week I sent three red scarves in for the Red Scarf Project. I don't know why, but I just feel the need to report in to you!!)

We're making soup today. No shopping yesterday but LOTS of knitting. Who cares whether you've strayed from your main project? It will call you again when you decide you HAVE to wear it, but for now enjoy the new.
We're heading to the LOCAL SMALL businesses today. It's a great weekend! One day of food, one day of sitting around knitting and one day of shopping. What could be better?

I'll "fourth" the twitter comment! The buttons are just gorgeous with the yarn. By the way, what has happened with the pretty lopi sweater kit you bought a while ago? Any plans for that this winter?

Love those buttons! I can see where they would force you to start a sweater just to suit them.
As a retail worker, I'll report that this year's Black Friday wasn't the pure hell it usually is. No one rammed me with a shopping cart or cursed in my face or anything...

I love those buttons. They look so warm and inviting. I'll have to keep the seller (and etsy in general) for the next time I want to have special buttons.
