This Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 photo shows Amanda Babine, 24, as she wears one of her red scarves outside the metro subway entrance in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington. Babine received three red scarves from the Red Scarf Project while a student at Wheelock College in Boston. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)
Emily Fredrix, fellow knitter and AP reporter, wrote a wonderful story on our favorite pet project. (Sorry, Mr. Jefferies, I don't mean you this time!)

Thank you, Norma! I love to see the students in their red scarves. I'm sharpening the needles right now, figuratively speaking. I'm going to post the article at work to see if we can get a group together for next time. Kudos to you for your work on this great project.

I just love seeing a red scarf on a college-aged student! I've already cast on the first of my red scarves for 2011!

Woohoo! What a great write-up!
I love the fact that the project isn't just scrumbling around for pocket change - that the kids know that there's a world out there where strangers will reach out with a gift of warmth and courage and love.

YAY! I love seeing these scarves in action ... and I love the thought that these students end up with a Red Scarf wardrobe! Isn't red the "new black"?

How to join? Just start knitting and send the scarves in next December?? The publicity was good. Our local paper carried the great picture of Amanda with the story. Now that I know you're there, I'm ready with needles and red yarn.
Cheers!
Sandy
