1. Sterling's Orphan Foundation wins 500,000 grant from Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
How are your red scarves coming? (September 1st is when you can start mailing them....it's coming up soon!) Read more about The Red Scarf Project, including address to mail them, here.
--------------------------------------------------
2. The new artisan gallery that I love is having a raffle. Based on my experience the other night, it is sure to be the location of many a laugh and good story from me the third Thursday of every month. I had a blast there and met (or remet) some wonderful people. And it actually got me knitting again -- no small feat!
Go buy some raffle tickets! (Purchase them online -- free shipping of the tickets!) You could win a lovely shawl kit, a $75 gift certificate to Manny Beads, an art doll, and more, all while helping the gallery raise funds for new lighting and other stuff to improve and expand the space.
Congratulations, OFA! Way to go! (Almost done with Red Scarf #2, Fool in Love.)

Hurrah for the grant!
I've got heaps of red wool, and will be casting on soon. Palindrome for the first one, haven't decided on the second one yet.

Excellent news on the grant--thanks for letting us know. What are the dates for mailing the scarves this year? I have one done. I'm contemplating the next one.

Fabulous news! The Eternal Red Scarf grew a bit while I was on vacation, and I bought yarn for another scarf, pattern as yet undetermined, but I'll share it with the world. (You know how I am about scarf patterns.)

I have cast on 2 different scarves; one is thinner yarn and the other is chunkier (for my different knitting moods). But right now I am trying to finish birthday socks, due Sept. 10. Knit on!

I'm knitting a shawl for a bride to wear at her wedding next month. Once that is done I will start cranking on the red scarves!

CONGRATULATIONS to OFA! What a tremendous vote of confidence for a wonderful organization. I've started on my first red scarf. If other unisex colors are OK, then I have one already finished (blue), and yarn for 2 additional (one gray, one red). The Corrugator is still my favorite pattern.

I have 1.5 scarves, which have a colorful history in theater including the distinction of possibly being the scarf with the most ends woven in (well, one end being woven and unwoven in every day).
