If you concentrate real hard, you might conceivably imagine that a knitter/spinner still lives here, despite all other evidence to the contrary.*
As for my weekend plans, I co-opt the following language Ryan used in her blog recently:
I realized that my house was starting to look abandoned, even white trashy. My choice was either to haul in a rusted truck on blocks, start planting everything in gilded tires, and git me some chewin' tabaccy, or actually clean up the yard.
So if I'm not thwarted by non-stop thunderstorms or something, I'm determined to restore my messy, weedy mess -- the weedy mess that's so messy and weedy -- to some semblance of order -- and dare I hope for beauty? -- by the end of the weekend, even if it kills me.
Happy weekend, everyone!
*Because I know someone will ask: Spindles in three sizes by Golding; white ball of yarn, gorgeous Bainin from Dagny at The Irish Ewe; fiber wool-silk blends of spinning fiber by the incomparable Kae; vintage wooden knitting needles from eBay; fancy bead-topped needles, a gift from the lovely and very pregnant Ruth.
Lovely coffee table decoration!

Beeeeeeeuitiful shot. I can't wait to mov so I can git me a coffee table to put my spinning in a bowl.
White trash is a nice look. It DOES have it's redeming qualities.

Happy weekend!
Good luck with the weed war.

Good luck! I'm going for the "Clampet" look myself. :-D

Hey, same problem here but I'm thinking of opting for the gilded tires and maybe one of those wooden cutouts of the people bending over in the garden, or the guy peeing, to distract of the weedification.

That looks so pretty. I keep my spindles in a basket, too, and it's so simple to just pick one up and start spinning.

You're a better woman than I. I had a recent battle with weeds in my yard and the weeds won. I pretty much ended up hacking them back to green clumps with a pair of shears.
It was a desperate move on my part, but I'd rather nap than pull weeds! Have a great weekend, weeds be damned!

I made a deal with the weeds. They don't come into the house and annoy me, I don't come out of the house and annoy them. So far, we have both been able to hold up our side of the bargin.
As long as your knitting/sitting area is so immaculate, you will never be white trash. Where are the piles of National Enquirers? Where's the overflowing ashtray? Where are the empty beer cans next to your chair? I can see the top of your coffee table fer goshsakes! You are the kind of person who could put gilded tires in the front yard as planters, and somehow make them a tasteful work of art. Fight the good fight. Do war on the weeds. It's in your blood and bones and will hurt you if you try to resist.

Okay, do you keep that collection there all the time? Don't you get moths in it? Or do you move it around and shake it out? I have a nearly pathological fear of moths in my wool, despite the fact that we don't have many here. I have wanted to arrange some sock yarns in a big open-mouthed vase I have, but I can't get the image out of my head, of the moth party that might take place on my beloved sock yarns.
PS - it's too dry here for Clampett look, but I'm really working on channelling Sanford and Son.

Sure looks good to me....

Those are marvelous spindles! Lucky you, to have them in three different sizes... you can spin anything you want that way. :-)
I have yet to acquire a Golding myself, but Rhinebeck isn't that far off...

Or you could always rip it all up and plant a rock garden. :)

All you need are a bunch of remote controls, some magazines, bills, dog balls and a pair of feet, and it would look just like our coffee table. Lovely!

Thanks for reminding me...What a pretty basket:)

Those spindles are art. Perfect table art. Good luck with the weeds.

Happy weed-destroyin' weekend!

Yes! You were right! I was salivating over the spindles before the whole shot had downloaded (Dial-up). If I find Golding won't deliver to Australia I'm gonna crumple in a big sobbing heap!
Unseemingly envious!

One thing about weeds, dust bunnies and so many other messy things---if you don't get to them today, they'll still be there tomorrow. Damnit all, anyway.
Love the basket of fibery goodness. Mmmmm.
xoxoxo

Happy weeding! It's been so nice here in NoVA that I have the exact opposite problem. I have to stay indoors to dust the cinder block and 2x4 shelves, then restock the Sears Roebuck catalog in the outhouse.
:)

Gorgeous picture. I need to get out and work in my yard too, but I'm sitting on the couch reading blogs and watching television. Go figure.
