Well, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I had another day helping out in the chocolate factory yesterday (have I mentioned I wish this were my business?) and came home to all youse guys cheering me on, pushing me, pulling my leg, making fun of me, encouraging me, offering help, making me laugh. It was the best damn present a poor old tired factory worker could have come home to.
And in the comments, Julia asked whether the new bag has a name.
Presenting Hepburn.
Following is a pretty crappy shot of the whole purse, if you want to see it. (I've been using various forms of the word "crap" a lot lately, yes, I have noticed. I think Kim is right -- I might need some homeopathic thingorother.) Craptastic photo of Hepburn
Due to the grey of which Harlot spoke yesterday (did you know what Harlot and I share the same line of latitude? Well, give or take a tiny bit. She'll get all competitive about this and claim loudly that IT'S COLDER WHERE SHE IS BECAUSE IT'S CANADA, but I know better. And did you know that about five miles from my home, going north on Interstate 89, just maybe two miles before the Canadian border, there is a sign that says, "Halfway between the Equator and the North Pole." Wow. This always gives us in the Norma family pause. Kind of cool, that. Every time we see that sign, we all go, "Whoa!" It always has the same effect on us, no matter how many times we see it. But I digress.) I've had a bugger of a time getting a good photo of this lovely purse.
None of the photos I took with my previously established crap camera do either the purse itself, or especially the handles, any sort of justice whatsoever.
But I did name the purse Hepburn. Why? I thought you'd never ask. Well, Good Old Lauren and I were having a little old chat the other day about the purse after I got the handles attached, and I was telling her that the handles for this one are a bit shorter than the others I had, so this doesn't really work as a shoulder bag (although maybe on skinny-mini Abigail it might), and Lauren opined that she pictured it more to be held in the crook of one's elbow, Audrey Hepburn style. And you know what? She's right! The purse IS very Audrey Hepburn, and I was damned if I were going to name it Audrey, after that sweater debacle of last year. (I still want to knit Audrey at some point in the future, though.)
So Lauren wants a modeled shot so she can picture the scale of the thing better, and I will see if I can prevail upon Abigail to oblige. It's a really big deal, because she's extremely busy right now with her coursework, with her R.A. position, with applying for summer internships, with reapplying for her R.A. position for next year, with one of the leads in the spring theater production, et the fuck cetera, and of course she will have to get appropriately dressed to model this purse. But we will see what we can do.
Someone else (who shall remain nameless - Cassie) is clamouring for a duo model shot of Abigail's and Ryan's wristers. I'm still working on that. I probably have a better chance of getting that, since they can wear those wristers with their regular college garb. I got the best damn thank-you note from Ryan for his wristers on Monday. Handwritten. On paper. In the regular post. Almost made me cry.
I'll be back at the factory tomorrow (it happens that depositions are slow and Valentine chocolate orders are NOT), so we shall not speak of the Must Have for now. Deal?
I think that my favorite word of the moment is CRAPTASTIC.
It's the perfect word, really.
Happy chocolating, Lucy. The upside is that chocolate soon will hold no power over you. The smell will make you pine for carrots.
And that, my friend, is NOT craptastic.

That Ryan is one very fab young man by the sounds of it. Pays attention to what his mother might like for Xmas and enlists help to get it right. Writes thank you notes. etc. etc. Abigail sure has a good one there.
As for the factory work, they say a change is as good as a rest so maybe you will just fly through that must have after the 14th.

It's absolutely beautiful!! And I LOVE the name. Hepburn. *swoon*
If the handles are too short hon, I can redo them -- would be happy to. I always measure out the same amount of wire, but apparently I screwed up on this one.....?!

Hepburn is one classic bit of bling. I think shorter handles are better for this one. And I have worked making chocolates in a small shop before , came home smelling of chocolate every day and I never longed for carrots..no no

Hepburn, how appropriate. I love it. As nice as the bag was, those handles make it!

"et the fuck cetera" is now officially my new favorite word (or would that be phrase?)
And, wow, Ryan seems like one helluva guy (as is befitting someone as wonderful as Abigail).

Ooolala, Audrey is a real glam...so chic, chic. All that chocolate must be very healing. I'll trade you jobs for a day...yum!

Hepburn is the perfect name for that purse. And it's gorgeous, even in the craptastic photo.

Harlot's right - it's colder cos it's Canada. London, England, is at about 52 degrees north, about 7 degrees north of you, but that's much warmer!

Norma, I'm curious. You live in Vermont and work at a chocolate factory. By any chance is it "Vermont NutFree Chocolates"? If so, I LOVE that chocolate factory!! I have a peanut allergy child and it is the only chocolate she is allowed to consume. Love the new purse. I really need to try making one, but am trying to finish up Clapotis and start a pair of monkey socks.
