The end of summer, for a gardener who is lucky, is bounteous.
I have been lucky.
One does try to make good use of all that bounty.
I've given some away:
I've blended and drunk smoothies galore:
I'm not complaining.
And some of my abundance of hot peppers have been chopped and simmered with onions...
and sweetened and pickled to become 6 pints of Hot Pepper Relish. (The other jars are in the fridge.)
The second planting of bush beans that I made on a whim on my birthday in July have been astonishingly productive. This is my third picking from the little 3-foot-by-3-foot grow bed:
