Dear Readers,
SIGH. I am FED UP. And exhausted. And DISGUSTED. And relieved. And so tired.
Last evening, David and Alpha went into the house and LEFT ME OUTSIDE ALL BY MYSELF.
They were gone for, like, HOURS. I could hear the showers running, and I stood at the screen door in the kitchen (can you believe it was 80 degrees in Vermont yesterday? Me, neither.) and I was barking and barking and barking LIKE MAD. I barked until I almost lost my voice.
My feelings were SO HURT. And I was trying to tell Alpha that SHE FORGOT ME. And then I thought, "She just doesn't CARE about me anymore."
I decided to try to melt her heart by going all around the yard and picking up all my toys and lining them up near the door. And I thought, "Well, if she doesn't like this one, maybe she'll like THIS one and come and let me in."
And I'd go to the screen door with each one and BARK SOME MORE. And then Alpha yelled at me from far away in the house to stop barking. And then I heard her leave the shower room and start to go up to her office. And SHE DIDN'T EVEN COME TO GET ME.
So I started to run around the back of the house to try to tell her, "I'm HERE. I'm OUT HERE! Come and LET ME IN!" And she still didn't come, even though I had changed my voice to tell her, "SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE."
But then all of a sudden I heard her calling my name. Oh, that SWEET SOUND. She was calling my name, and she was saying, "Jeffies! Oh, Baby! Where are you?" and then I ran to the screen door and barked in another different voice that said, "Oh, hello, thank GOODNESS you still love me! Because I love YOU very, very, very much, and look what a good boy I was! I love you! Very much!"
And then David came running down the stairs and said, "How did THAT happen?"
And Alpha said, "I thought he was with YOU! But I suddenly realized that that bark was different and that he was really in trouble."
Well, anyway, people. I never want that to happen again.
Love,
Mr. Jefferies
Poor Mr. Jefferies! I hope by the time he reads this he has recovered from the trauma.

It's *exhausting* to run around barking your (fool) head off!
Really - glad everything turned out o.k. A little belly rub may be in order ;)

Poor Mr. J! I'd say a little extra spoiling is in order.

Poor little bug. Victor is not allowed in the back yard right now, which is making him more than a tiny bit crazy. There is lime and fertilizer on the soil, so more walks and less just chasing squirrels in the back yard.

I feel badly for Mr. Jefferies but the fact that he ran around and picked up all his toys makes me wonder if I lock my husband outside for hours, if he wouldn't do the same with his?

Mr. J., you are a GOOD boy to not have run away. And clever to change your voice, too.

Poor little guy! I hope they were extra-special to you all night to make up for it... special treats, extra cuddles, and lots of apologies.

Thank goodness Mr. Jeffries did not run away. It kind of melts my heart to think of him running around finding all his toys for you. You have to wonder what goes on in their little heads.

Poor Mr Jefferies! Our Bonnie Beagle says he should get some extra treats, and extra cuddling....

My sympathies Mr. J. We are guilty of the same traumatizing crime. Our older beagle Hank was left outside overnight. He never barks, so he just sat at the back door and waited for us to figure it out.

Thank goodness Mr J is alright. There are mean people and other animals that could have gotten him. I agree, you need extra spoiling and treats for having to live this terrible ordeal.

Poor boy! I hope you gave them a good scare and that they'll listen better in the future... but be easy on them, they're only people, right?

Poor Mr J. If only you could have piled up your toys high enough to reach the doorbell! Maybe Alpha and David can install a ship's bell with a rope you can pull so this never happens again.

Oh sweet baby Jefferies, I'm so glad you stayed AT HOME.. and how sweet of you to get ALL your toys from the yard. I'm just glad you're alright, and you are, you know that, right? Your Alpha and David love you very much. xoxox
