You know how when you see something every day, you don't notice it anymore? That happens a lot in my house. I've got a lot of stuff. A lot of collections, quite a lot of space. So it isn't until I do the seasonal cleaning and rearranging -- which, let's admit, does not happen every season or even every year -- that I remember to notice some of the things I have. One of my favorites is this:
Is that not adorable? It's my mother and my aunt. My mom is the one on the right, I believe. I'm only guessing that, because she's always been known as "the sad twin," she claims. But in this photo both girls look pretty sad or tired or overwhelmed, which makes it all the more precious to me. In the same way I'm drawn to winter scenes and gray clouds in paintings, the sad face in photos is often the more beautiful and compelling face. I remember that doll from when I was a little girl. It had a porcelain or ceramic face and legs, that, by the time I had it handed down to me, was broken, paint-chipped, and rather ugly and scary. Or maybe I'm the one who trashed it; who knows.
This is in a grouping of other old family photos, and where it was before, I had failed to notice it anymore. So I moved the entire grouping to a more visible location. When I do that, oftentimes visitors will say, "You've got a whole lot of new stuff." Nope. Just moved stuff around. It's like going shopping.
I'm trying to put up a brave fight against this cold. It's a virile one. Fevers and chills.
If there's fever, then it is no longer a cold. Sounds like the influenza to me.

Wonderful photo. The dolls look like they're made of composition. (I had one from my grandmother, but lost it in a move.)
Drink lots of fluids (but no bubbles!)

Norma! Feel better soon! I love old photos but now I'm old enough the old photos are pictures of me!

The only way I can tell the picture is older than me is the style of the dolls. That is one precious picture, isn't it? Get well, but try to take care so it can happen, K?

That photo is precious. I love pictures of my mom and her sister (not twins) when they were girls. It's a nice perspective. ~ksp

Hope you feel better. spring colds suck! Cutest pic. I love it.

Hope you feel better soon. Is it possible for you to take it easy? Meanwhile, keep saying to yourself, "I DO believe in spring, I DO believe in spring!"

My mom's a twin, too, and I love these 40s and 50s photos of them!

Old family photos are so interesting. Thanks for sharing one of your mom. Feel better soon, Norma.

Thanks for sharing that photo. I moved some stuff around recently and I can't decide yet if I like it better or not.

Dr. Norma, heal thyself!
I hope you are getting this beautiful day too.

I love that photo! And I hope you feel better soon. I am not sure if I'm fighting off a cold, or starting to get allergies. Either way, I don't really like it.

Yes, that photo is quite adorable! One of my favourite things is looking at old photos. Feel better soon, Norma.

Feel better soon.
I do that, used to drive my kids nuts ~ change things from place to place or room to room just for a change. They're used to it now. I have moved pictures to find a paper note on the wall behind if saying stuff like, "You at it again Mom?" and "Please leave me here, Nicole likes this hung here a lot." They think they're funny....

Sincerely hope you feel better very soon.... hot tea with lemon and honey? And chicken soup?
Love the photo! Have an arrangement of old b & w family photos; the oldest one (and my favorite) is an original 1" x 1" first grade school picture of my mother... taken in 1918!

I love old photos, too. My grandmother and her sister were very close in age and often pictured together. It was always Aunt Mary who was the "sad one" in those shots.
I'm always studying these photos, trying to recognize the older person that I know/knew in these young faces. And, I suppose, searching for elements of myself, too.

I'd send you good (hack hack) health vibes (cough), but I have (wheeze) none.

Love the photo. I do the same thing sometimes, and it's amazing how much we (and others) notice our stuff when it sees a new location. I hope you feel better. Make sure it isn't the flu rather than a cold. You don't want to fool around with the flu.

the zubble
the zubbles mouth is filled with fangs
it has a tiny nose
enormous ears, two bloodshot eyes
and twenty seven toes
it has three tails, its hair is green
and scraggly to the touch
and so i have decided
that i do not like it much
if you see any of the above you have the flu
good night i hope

What Mel said. Sorry, but he's right--if fever is present it's not a cold. :( Hang in there kiddo!
Love the picture.

Glad to know that cleaning, clearing and sorting serves a higher purpose. But perhaps that's what caused the fever and chills?!? So, I'm with you...I wouldn't do it on a regular basis...health hazard.

Moving your own things around is a wonderful way to enjoy what you have without bringing in more stuff.
I hope you're taking care of yourself over there, missy. xo

Ugh, I've been hearing about this nasty respiratory thing going around. Hope you're over it soon. I have an old photo of my grandmother and her sister (supposedly) that I like... they look like total penniless street urchins.
