Carole's recent blogiversary contest promised brownies to the lucky winner, so I weighed in for my brownie points and to wish her a happy blogiversary.
Well.
We got yer two dozen brownies right here.
Let me repeat that number so it sinks in:
Two.
Dozen.
Big.
Fat.
Brownies.
540 or so calories each.
How many hours on the elliptical machine would that be? My little blonde head can't even do the math. So, some quick thinking saved me most of the calories (I had two of the brownies) and bought me some popularity and major brownie points in my own right. I brought them to Cell Lunch yesterday. Starving biology grad students and faculty need brownies, man!
They all said they were going to follow me home.

I'm glad you saved a couple for yourself before sacrificing them in the name of a good deed! ;)

When you said "two dozen," I was envisioning a 9 x 13 pan. I had no idea they were such beautiful and elaborate brownies! Your willpower is amazing.

No use following you home. The brownies were gone at that point. Nothing but sprouts here, folks. :)

Heh, no doubt!

Two dozen! 540 calories each! Good Gawd Maude, I guess I'm glad I didn't win :-)

Can I come over too?

You're a smart cookie. Or should I say brownie?
Posted by: Carole | Friday, February 08, 2008 at 06:59 AM
MMM, did someone say brownies, big fat brownies. I am afraid they would have been hidden in my sweets closet! Oh stopped by to see Carole. UFB! She got to take her knitting into the courthouse. You can not do that here in VT I know I have tried in 3 different court districts. Crochet yes but knitting no. Sucks. Glad you shared the brownies. Your ass would not fit in those tight designer jeans you own if you ate them all yourself! LOL!

Oh, by the way mine would not fit into ANY of my jeans if I ate even one!!! LOL

When the grad students arrive at your house, make them do yard work. They should be nice and hyped up after all that sugar.

540 CALORIES! I never checked when I ate mine. Drat! You must have made the students day!

You are a saint, a generous saint. I would have frozen them and parceled them out, one a week or so, to myself. And never told anyone in my family that they existed.
If you wanted to run for President, or governor, or whatever, you would have the student vote for sure.

Umm, I usually estimate about an hour of elliptical per brownie (it's actually a bit less, but if I tell myself an hour then I'll eat less of them).
That's a lot of brownie. I have done a boat load of running this week because I succumbed to a caramel covered, milk chocolate enrobed chocolate chip cookie. It was huge (probably 3-4 inches across) and delicious!

Take the caloric temptations and cast them before the locusts. Not even crumbs will remain. Betcha they even licked the wrappers, didn't they? You are a canny dame!

It is well known that free food is the way to a grad student's heart.

You are a stronger woman than I am. Definitely.

Man.... those look good. I plan pigging as much chocolate as I can this weekend because Dan and I are starting a healthy eating and exercise plan on Monday. Gotta lose the 20lbs we've put on since moving here. So no more brownie pictures, okay?! I have no will power.

i'm glad i didn't win too. although i probably wouldn't have accepted the prize. i can't have 12,960 calories of brownie just roaming free in my house.

What a win/win situation you created! Good for you.

I'm trying to picture how it went when you asked the students to let you take a picture of them taking the brownies for the blog. They were probably all, "of course!"

Won't Carole be surprised when that group shows up on her doorstep looking for seconds.

Brownies good!!! Sad that I didn't get to share...but alas, I am not a grad student or a professor. Who told me there would be brownie perks?!!? No one! Thanks to you Norma for letting that secret out. Now I know how to get free brownies! *giggle*

Brownies???? Did you mention brownies?? Now I'll have to get off my big rear end and bake some because the craving has begun.
Posted by: Kate | Friday, February 08, 2008 at 05:50 PM
Mmmm . . . Why don't I ever win the yummy, edible prizes?? I would have shared them, even, with Mom and everything....

Did you give them Carole's address?
Posted by: Lucia | Friday, February 08, 2008 at 08:18 PM
Just looking at that makes me hungry.
