Poor thing, you. But those red cables and that bag took my breath away. Wishing you a restful sleep without the nightmares, chickie.

    Isela

The cable in the center is gorgeous.

    MommyknitsJen

Wow that bag is gorgeous!!! What a lucky girl you are. Here's hoping you get the chance to come up for air sometime soon.

    Sue

Whatever the mistery knitting is - it's lovely. BTW a mini-cable neck gaitor sounded like something I would love to make but I couldn't find any reference to it in the blog you linked to (Anne's). Google wasn't any help either. Is the pattern posted (or for sale) somewhere and I'm just not finding it??

    Kathy

Oooooh, lovely red cables there. And that bag! I hope you have the proper killer shades to wear with that thing.

    stinkerbell

night night and dont let teh bed bugs bite (especially not after you got the monkey off your back- that deserves a good nights sleep!)

    Lee Ann

That song in your head? Payback for putting Tennessee Ernie Ford into my head a while ago with Sixteen Tons...

    :-)

Congratulations for getting the job done! Yay!

    Dave Daniels

Wow, nice plaited cables on that. Is that the cener of the sweater you're making for me? It's quite lovely!
Congrats on getting that BIG job done, now you can come back into the knitting and blogging world. ANd, speaking of songs tuck in your head, how about Dolly Parton singing "9 to 5"? Torture, abso-friggin'-lutely torture.

    Katy

Well, now I'll know how to spot you the next time I'm in Vermont. I'll be walking around Church Street (or the Islands, or what have you) and I'll see that gorgeous bag, and I'll say, "Holy Magic Socks! It's Norma!" ;)
Glad you are feeling a bit more refreshed, but sorry you have another big job. Ugh.

    margene

What a relief that nightmare job is done. Hopefully the magic socks worked and you slept well and refreshed.

    Vicki

Holy cow, I can't wait to see what that red secret knitting grows up to be. ; )

    Beth

I am with you on the socks-to-bed thing. Came over me all of a sudden this winter - never had the problem before. My grandfather used to say that "age comes not alone."

Love your mystery knit. Beautiful cables and color!

    Chris

Lovely, lovely bag. And the secret project looks suspiciously like part of a sweater... Not even a day's break between jobs?! Ugh...

    Cassie

    Oooo.... yummy, delicious cables.

    Carole

The cables are awesome. It's a secret because it's for me, right?

    --Deb

Hurray, hurray! So glad to hear that THAT's done! And yes, the cables are gorgeous, and the bag is amazing.

    Kim

Ooohhh, your better pal goodies are SO great!! What's up with the handmade beads? I simply canNOT take on another hobby, but ooooh, they're so intriguing and beautiful.

LOVE the silk bag, you lucky duck!

    mamacate

I always feel that way after a big project--bravo! Put your feet up (with your warm socks on, of course), pick up your knitting, and have a big glass of wine (so what if it's 9:30 am?)! You deserve to celebrate!

Also, our hormones must be talking to each other, because I've had cold feet lately. I keep forgetting to do the water bottle thing until I'm *IN* the bed, so that doesn't work, but I have started keeping a heating pad there that I can flick on before I go to brush my teeth. It's a pretty profound kind of self-care to get into a bed with a nice warm spot for my feet. Mmmmm.

    Scout

I can't keep up with this post. It was like listening to someone on speed. Did you take something last night before writing this? ;)

I love the cabled project. I thought it was the Crossed in Translation at first but I guess not.

    Jackie

    Damn those cables are gorgeous.

Also, I've never slept in magic wool socks (or wool socks at all) but it sure sound like I'm (aka Mrs. Freezing Feet) missing out. Guess what's going to be cast on first thing after work?

    Beth S.

Sounds normal to me! I'm also a fan of "Welcome to the Working Week" (see that excellent album, "My Aim is True".) But anyway, YAY! I'm awfully glad that monkey is off your back. And I hope this next gig won't turn out to be Monkey 2.0.

    Kim

The mystery knitting looks great and so does the bag :) Just passing through on Stashalong patrol--have a great week!

    Sue

Congratulations on getting rid of the monkey business, Norma! Probably by now you are feeling the relief of having that job done and out the door (although there’s this new job you spoke of … argh). The bag from Dave is great! (Nice job, Dave!). Isn’t it great that you have ability to now make Magic Socks?! (this from someone who’s contemplating making her first pair of socks ever). :-)

    Rachel H

Reeeeeeeeeeeeaally love those cables on your secret project. Looking forward to finding out what it is so you can share the pattern with us.

    Ellen

So...where can I get some Magic Socks? Last winter I was a regular little furnace, sleeping with only a light cover (and our house temp goes down to 60 at night), and this year, I cannot get warm!

    claudia

Nice work getting that big fat monkey off your back.

    Imbrium

That bag is fabulous! (And so are you. Just. As. You. Are.)

Congratulations on giving that monkey the heave-ho. Does this mean we get to hear the story of "Why Norma is Sexist" now?

    Kristen

I think your Chain Gang moment was perfectly normal. But, then again, I have a highly suggestable mental jukebox.

    sandy

A hearty congrats on finishing the beast of burden. Aka: work! :)
I am in love with your secret! Have I ever told you I hate secrets? No. It's not really true. Whoever is the recipient is one lucky duck.
And you are one with that bag. Honestly, that Dave. He's a talent because I have never seen such beauty in a bag.
    xo

    --Deb

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that my copy of The Conjurer's Bird came today, and as of this moment, I'm on page 47 . . .

    Angelia

Wow. The knitting is awesome. The bah beautiful. And congrats on finishing the job. :-)

    Angelia

Sorry! Bag. The BAG is beautiful.

    julia fc

Hi Ho Hi Ho: It's home from work we go!
    Yippeee! Freedom. Go knit something!

    Beth

I'm a big fan of bedsocks, and I've corrupted my husband as well. We both sleep a lot better and quicker if we don't have to wait for our feet to warm up first (this despite flannel sheets, three quilts and two cats).

Or maybe he's just happy I'm not putting the Icy Feet of Death on his shins anymore.

    Sandy

Lucky you (for the neato bag)! Get some rest, you deserve it.

    Kathy

I *need* some magic socks. And a silk bag like that. And the red cably thing. (Damn, aren't those lawyers demanding :-)

    Norah

The cables and the bag are beautiful!! I can't wait to hear what the Secret Project turns out to be. Love your story about the Magic Socks. I'm glad to hear you got the Big Job done--hope the next one isn't that bad.

    Robbyn

Isn't that the little aran from "Knitting for Baby"? Love the little boy model in the book - the very definition of cute :)

    Siow Chin

That red cable piece is dropdead GORGEOUS! And glad you have those magic socks to help you out.

    Sarah W.

Do I get bonus points for being able to identify the secret project? I don't want to spoil it (in case you really want it to be secret), but I've knitted it before and it does turn out beautifully!

    AnnP

I'm trying that sock trick tonight. Anything to help me sleep.
